I stood before the pope of the church of Christ, his tranquil eyes burning through mine as he spoke;
"The great and merciful God forgives you of the crimes you commit as humanity! I hereby absolve you of all sins, in the name of the church of Jesus Christ!"
The words rang through the hall as if uttered in the voice of God himself. I had gone to war, and seen many more a thing than a human man need see. I have gone home to find her dead, and an apparation comes to me.
"Isacc," It spoke in a voice of sorrow, "Isacc, why have you broken your promise?" "I know not of what you speak, spirit," I replied, not before seeing the ghost for my beloved, Elizabeth.
A darkness came about the scene, as if all light had drained from the earth, and a dark man walked to me, and spoke. "I am Lucifer, banished by the one God from the one heaven, and by breaking faith you have sealed the fate of the one most dear to you, Isacc."
The two sank into the ground, and I desperately searched around for hope, for reprieve, and caught sight of the church in the distance. Running to it, I sped inside, stopping with immediate horror as the ground broke away to reveal such a scene.
The screams of the damned assaulted my being, and I knew this was the point past all reckoning, to be traveled by those of great evil. What laid before me, was the gates of Hell.
I walked foreward, the moans of the damned growing ever louder, the sky disappearing from view, and I felt as if all hope were lost if I took but one step further, but, stepping further, I set foot where no man, living or holy, shall ever deserve to go.
A man appeared before me, of a different light than that of Hell, almost hope, and spoke in a loud, clear voice that rang against the moans and screams of the damned;
"I am Perseus, the guide of the damned, sent to you of my own free will to beseech you to leave this place! Return to the holy ground of God! Redeem yourself!"
"It is what I am come to do, spirit, and in all hope that you shalt give aid, I plead to you to allow my journey." I answered the spirits' call, my voice feeble to that of the guide.
"Very well, but know that upon entering, you are a damned soul; All that has blessed you is banished, and all sins are counted tenfold." The wise spirit spoke.
"I am willing to chance my damnation, if only to save my beloved, spirit." I replied over the deafening moans of the tortured souls of hell, sure to become one of them in soon time, I walked through the gates, into Limbo, the first of nine.
